2018 EJS Symposium

The second annual Equity in the Job Search Symposium took place on February 2, 2018.

Over 70 members of the Yale community gathered to learn strategies for success during all stages of the job search process, learn about implicit gender bias, discuss Yale’s ongoing diversity initiatives, and brainstorm strategies for working toward a more diverse and inclusive campus.

Attendees said:

“Thank you so much for putting on this amazing event!  I have already seen positive impacts from the symposium, and you should be proud for creating positive change in our departments!”

“Great job! Please do it next year when I’m an older grad student.”

“Thank you so much for holding this symposium. It was amazing… I especially want to thank the work that went into structuring the panels. It was clear a lot of thought and preparation went into formulating and ordering the questions from the moderators.”

“Super well-organized and -run. I can hardly believe it was organized by full-time graduate students.”

“I most liked how the keynote was an evidence-based talk.  The audience (being people in academia) were strongly impacted by the refined and polished keynote.”

“I really liked the supportive atmosphere. I also thought that the day nicely integrated the equity and job search conversations.”

“I thought the speakers, as a whole, were phenomenal choices.”
