2019 EJS Symposium

The third annual Equity in the Job Search Symposium took place on February 15, 2019.

Members of the Yale community gathered to learn strategies for success during all stages of the job search process, learned about implicit gender bias, discussed Yale’s ongoing diversity initiatives, and brainstormed strategies for working toward a more diverse and inclusive campus.

RECOGNIZED MENTORS 2019

Mentoring can make all the difference in someone’s job search. For that reason, this year we solicited nominations from our registrants for individuals at Yale University that have been particularly strong mentors. Below are the recognized mentors in alphabetical order:

Anjelica Gonzalez, Professor in Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Gonzalez received the BMES Diversity Award for her efforts to promote diversity and inclusivity and was recognized for the value that she places on promoting a diverse work environment, and willingness to share her own experiences as a minority in STEM field.
Stephanie Haffner, Career Coach at the SOM Career Development Office. Ms. Haffner was recognized for helping mentees gain confidence and acting as their advocate.
Andew Miranker, Professor of Molecular Biology and Biophysics. Dr. Miranker was recognized by his mentees for his caring and sound advice, and effort towards creating new programs to promote diversity and inclusion, including the Being Human in STEM program.
Evan Morris, Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, Psychiatry & Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Morris was recognized for his teaching effort of inclusion during his ethics course, where he devotes at least one lecture to a panel discussion led by women faculty.
